On the edge of the municipalities of Vega de San Mateo and Tejeda, this throat is defined by the Almagria Mountains, to the north, and Las Mejoranas, to the south, it is without a doubt the one that offers the best-known landscape perspective of Gran Canaria .
Here there was an ancient volcano that was once the center of the island and with an unexpected height. Now it is one of the most beautiful landscapes of the island.
Hundreds of thousands of years of erosion have dragged the materials along the ravines that cross this slope, modeling the relief. Small ravines converge to feed the Barranco Grande that will die on Playa del Charco: Barranco de Tumba, Tejeda, Juncal, Chorrillo, Siberio, all of them descend from the heights looking for the fertile valley that they will find beyond the Morro del Amber in the Village of San Nicolás.
